...little tempo

This morning I got myself out of a comfy bed to knock out 5 miles. I heard the LOUD alarm go off, strategically placed in our bathroom, and I actually laid back down. I was thinking: "5 miles this morning, or 5 miles at lunch (in the 90's), or 5 miles after work (when I won't want to do it at all). So, do I sacrifice an hr of sleep to get it done". I answered myself "Yes, it's worth it". I had NO nutrition on this run, which I think is working for me for the AM runs at least up to 6 miles. We'll see once they get longer. Goal was 1 mile easy, 3 miles tempo, 1 mile easy. However, that wasn't the case. I felt I was sort of all over the place. I just ran faster when I could, etc. So my min/mile doesn't reflect what a tempo should look like. I need to work on that. I'll spare you the details...

5.24 mi (48:45) 9:19/mi

So, today's meeting - NOT sold! However, reorganization and a few layoffs (only 1% from our dept). It's apparantly all for the better to make our co. grow. We do have some interest into buying us.. so just hoping it goes well when it does happen. All was well, and David, Grace and I hit our wine bar downtown for a celebration glass (or 2, or 3... hmmm- how many did we have??). So, tomorrow is a birthday party for Grace's friend then she's going to spend the night with my Aunt (who loves her a lot) and David and I are partying it up for a cookout at a friend's house before heading out for a 9pm 5K. Are we nuts? anyway... hope we don't eat too much (or better yet, drink too much)...

Have a nice friday night....

I wish I had your kind of thinking in the morning; maybe I'd actually get up and go run!

Nice job on the 5 miles. It's so hard to get out of bed, but it usually makes more sense to do it at that time of day. Plus, you feel as if you accomplished so much before heading to work!

Have fun tonight and goodluck on the 5K!
