5 @ lunch

Not only did I drop some cash for my new friend, Garmin Junior, I signed up today for
not 1, but 2 events. Am I crazy?

No, I'm not.

MB Half is Feb 16th, and the bike ride is the next day. Since everyone in my crew, except my brother and his friends (they are going to MB with us, but, to party), is doing the 30 mile. I said "why not"? OH WHY did I say that? I haven't rode any distance over 15 and I jumped to signing up for the 30. Okay, so I keep telling myself, it's flat and it's a joy ride. No biggie. I am going to train for it though. I have to consider that my legs will be tired that morning from the Half the day before. David and I won't be riding together, so no pressure. (Thank you) My co-worker, Cindy had a great suggestion. She said I should ride a little, stop at a bar, and so on. I think that is a swell idea. 10 miles, reward myself, 10 miles, reward myself, then 10 miles, finish and celebrate!

I also signed up for my 2nd triathlon event, Parris Island Sprint Tri. It's an easy, flat course - my favorite type. :-) I am stoked but this time, I'm training for it. I won't do the same thing I did for Greenville Tri back in Aug, by NOT training. It's the first one of the season for the SC Tri Series and the first one for Team TYB Racing, which David and some other great guys are a part of. They are going to have a terrific race season! I'm excited to see how well they do, and be their groupie and to see how great they look in their new uniforms, repra-sent-un...

I had to make an important decision today at work, and no it wasn't work-related. It had to do with my scheduled 5 mile run - lunch or after work. Now, sounds easy enough, right? No. We have our monthly off-site meeting where they serve beer, so it was either:
a) run at lunch
b)run after meeting, which means after beer
c)run after our off-site meeting, and have no beer at the meeting.

C is NOT an option. I would be griped at. We honestly have some of the best, most productive work-related discussions at our off-site meetings, especially when alcohol is involved. So, I ran at lunch and thus took a longer lunch. No sweat, I have been working over a little each day for over a week, and even working during lunch sometimes. I don't take advantage of the flexibility my boss allows me to have when it comes to exercise during lunch. He knows how much it means to me, and knows I do tend to put in more hrs. Besides, I come to work on time, and leave on time, if not later. I don't take advantage of it.

5 miles
54:32

I gotta go - have 2 hrs before heading out. Happy Thursday...

Cindy's got a great plan, except it's South Carolina, and bars aren't open on Sunday Morning. I checked. You'll just have to carry your Camelbak filled with "hydration fluid".

I'm really looking forward to racing against you in both Myrtle Beach and Parris Island. It's ON like Donkey Kong! :-p Just look for the sweet ass in spandex, and I'll be next to him.

Way to jump into the season! You rock! You da man! LOL
