In a nutshell

Okay, so I haven't been on blogs lately. Honestly, I really haven't had much free time to do it, either at work or at home. Our connection at home works sometimes. So, here I am at work trying to get a quick update in.

Runs have been going okay. I'm having some pains in my entire leg after runs, which bothered me so much all day yesterday, that I couldn't get comfortable at all to go to sleep. That along with the cold that Grace passed down to the both of us.

This time last week was the Tri-clinic, and I didn't go. I wasn't feeling up to it, and I even moved my run to Friday in which I did a measly boring 3 miles, and swim 500yds (13:03). Saturday, David was going to do the group ride, so I said I was going to do my 14 miles on sunday morning, but forgot I had Church duties which makes me be there at 9:00. No way I can get in that mileage before 8:15, so I said I'd do it sunday night. If you know me at all, pushing a run into Sunday evening never happens, and neither did this one. I did feel a little guilt, but not much. See, we discussed, over dinner, whether I should continue training. I'm at a point Jess was a little while back. I really am not enjoying my runs, like I did during the Half training, and am having consistent pain throughout my entire left leg and shin splints. I know the entire training isn't supposed to be "fun", but, I want to enjoy some of it, at least. So, after much debating within myself - I'm going to try to continue. I had a great conversation with the girl who did my hair Monday, who has done 18 marathons and between her and David telling me I can complete it, I will be continuing on 1 run at a time and see how it goes. I do, however, think I may need to see a Dr. about my leg, to see if it's worse than just my body being unaligned properly, which is what David thinks.

Our weekend was great. Friday night we went to a baseball game and enjoyed the boxed seats, so no sitting in the heat for us. Grace had the luxury of kicking and throwing her soccer ball around in the room, and we had a great time with my brother and his friend. Fun! We actually caught more of the "Tour de France" on the TV, than of the baseball game, if you can imagine that... (with David being a cycling freak). Saturday, we had lunch with my brother and friend, again, and I finished my final for Microeconomics (at work - connection was down). Sucks, to have to go into work, to do that - but I had a lot of peace and quiet and finished it fairly quick. Sat night, we went to our friends house and had a GREAT time having dinner and watching the kids play in their yard. So very relaxing, great conversation, and seeing Jacob, Tyler and Grace interact - nice.

So, Tuesday I did 3 Miles in the heat after work, and yesterday morning I was out the door at 5:50 for 7 miles. Both runs were completed, and for that, I am happy. I was very slow on the 7, but I didn't have any calories for energy, either. Anyway, like I've said - Chicago is about completing it, feeling good, not about time, so that's why I'm not thinking of pace too much.

Today is the run clinic at the YMCA. Their going to watch our form, and I hope to get in 4 miles of running as well. If not, I will get up tomorrow to do the 4, and swim at lunch. I have 14-16 miles this weekend for my long run.

So, blah, blah, blah - been boring lately, been busy. At work, I have 2 major projects that have to be completed in 2 wks, because I will be leaving for 2 wks - going to New York for my annual military training. So - I'll be trying to catch up with you all here today/tonight. Haven't forgot about my fellow running bloggers at all...

So, for those of you that get the Runner's World magazine, share what's your favorite article in the latest issue is? I found a lot of good useful information in it as my hair was getting blonder on Monday.

My favorite article in Runner's World is the one about "How to please your man in bed...every time!" Oh wait, that was your Cosmo I was reading. Nevermind; haven't read RW yet.

For somebody who is not "feelin it" (Shut up David ;-) you sure are executing some good runs!! Hang in there! You are so right. If you aren't having fun, you need to stir things up a bit. Good luck!!

ROFLMAO David!! You KNOW you secretly read Cosmo after Mendy goes to bed!

I'm sorry you're not having as much fun as you'd like with the marathon training. I absolutely agree that you can MOST definitely complete that baby! Just think how much more rewarding finishing it will be after all these obstacles ;D Forget the times!

Coming up north huh? Weather is nice up here!! (well not today but I'm sure it's not as humid as down South) Where are you going to be in NY? (if you don't mind me asking :P Don't worry I won't try and come stalk you or anything LMAO!)

I just subscribed to RW so I can't tell ya yet :P

To answer your question: My kids go to bed from 7-7 baby!!! Momma has a STRICT bedtime policy. That's why I have to go out so early. Even though my husband leaves for work at 8:30 I want to make sure I'm back in time and showered for when they get up, KWIM?

Ah Mendy, we're like twins in this emotional experience. Thankfully, I'm on an upswing right now so I can brightly tell you that yes, you CAN do this and you WILL like it. Things will look up, I promise.

As per the leg thing, hmmmm...that's trickier. Do you wear orthotics? Perhaps you are outta whack as David suggested and you need a special insert in one of your shoes. Or...are your shoes old? How many miles are on em? They may need replacing.

In the meantime, all I can advise is ice and IBs.
