Following in Lisa's footsteps

Lisa just happily finished her first Oly last weekend, and she has been such an inspiration to me. You ALL have, but Lisa and I are on the same levels of our fitness, our complaints about our weight, etc and it's good to be able to share some of that with someone.

So, I was talking to David about my races, my future (this yr) plan with what I want and I've got my eye on a race in the Sept timeframe (my Birthday month), but I was talked into doing an Olympic distance. I'm looking at one in Canton, NC in Lake Logan. It's part of the "Triathlon Development Series" which is more up my alley, considering my slow arse pace and my non-competitiveness. This series is for FUN. Specifically: The TrySports Triathlon Development Series is open to all athletes, but is designed to welcome beginner and novice athletes. With special features at all the series events including pre-event participant Q & A meetings, smaller swim waves, beginner friendly courses and an emphasis on fun, the TrySports Triathlon Development Series events are a great way to introduce yourself to the sport of triathlon.

Now THAT is what I'm talking about, homies. Short swims, decent bike length, and flat'ish running terrain. David was telling me "You've picked some of the hardest and most popular races in the SCTS", so I was looking for an Olympic distance that isn't Jun 8 (the Oly he's signing up to do - too soon for me), and found the Lake Logan one. It's Aug 2. I'm gonna sign me up, and I've decided to throw in the Asheville, NC triathlon too. It looks fun! Why not, right?

People, I was a such a workout slacker this week. I had a visit from mother nature and it just zapped any energy I had out of me. I know - TMI. So, I blew off my swim on Wed, and I blew off my 60 min run yesterday. I won't make up the swim, but I will do my run this weekend. I did get back in the pool today and all went okay with the 1400yds. I will be doing my first EVA group ride tomorrow. I'm doing a lot of first these days... solo ride last week, group ride this week... I'm a wee bit nervous, but I hope to be able to hang with them. I want to do at least 1.5 hrs since that's my long ride for the weekend. I will also have a 45 min bike ride this weekend at some point.

My little lady is growing up, Ya'll. She's gone to her first sleepover tonight at her friend's house. We all had dinner tonight and she took off with them home. So, that means David and I will be both doing the group ride tomorrow morning. Tomorrow late afternoon, we plan on hitting up the balloon festival here in G'ville with Grace. She's gonna love it!

I fell victim to the disease that has hit my team at work. It's been manifesting itself around slowly and by way of my VP, it got to me too. I swore I would be immune to this thing, but not so.
........
I bought a wii. The dealio was that I was going to go out and get the Wii fit for my VP, and co-worker Cindy went with me. Long story short, we had to swing by Best Buy afterwards for her to get her Wii. I ended up walking out of the store with one. I haven't played with it much, but I'm waiting until the my ordered Wii fit comes in. :-)

While most of you have Monday off, our company sees that if we Gots to sell groceries, then we need to be open at corporate for support, so I gotta work. I'm not complaining, as I'm just happy to have a job, especially these days at my company.

Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, Ya'll!

Oh man, that description of the tri has me so jealous. What a perfect event. I would LOVE that.

You are going to love your Wii although, beware it is a major time eater and I know you pack it in pretty well. You will really like Wii Sports, I think. The tennis and bowling are lots of fun. Although be careful. We've hit plenty of little noggins and even sheared the top off a wine glass playing tennis!! I've been using Wii Fit also. Will be interested to see what you think.
