Finally, a relaxed weekend...

Friday night was a family evening, and no working out for me. I had still felt the pain I put my legs through on thursday with my working, so even though it wasn't a planned day off, I made it one! Afterall, I did do 4 days in a row of working out, which included 2 sessions a day on a few, so I owed it to myself to go enjoy a lowfat (veggie cheese) pizza at Brixx with my family! Yummy... then a trip to Tar-get. See... My child making herself comfortable on the nicely clean floor of target-Yeah... right....

I wanted to run on saturday, but not in the am. David had the group ride, that he hasn't done in a while, so I opted for sat evening. I didn't know what I wanted to do - long run / or tempo, since I took it a little easy on running since I hurt my calf. Of course, we ran errands much of the day. One of our errands was going to Fleet Feet to have them look at my shoes (and David's) and talk about my recent shin splints. I ended up getting some inserts and more socks! Whoopeee... After we got home, I gave my car some much-needed TLC, then I came in to some pasta smelling yummy, and said nah.. It was already 9:00pm, "I'll run tomorrow".

3 Miles - Tempo
Got up early today - well, after I hit snooze a couple of times, then only had time for a short run before heading to Church. I was working in the nursery for the 1st service. So, I did a tempo and finally (smiling) dipped into the 8's for a 3 mile run. Running with my inserts was weird at first - felt like there was something in there - Oh, yea, there was - an insert - but you know what I mean. Anyway, it'll take some getting used to. Great run, overall! Went about our day afterwards, then while David chose to go out in the what seemed to be scorching heat, Grace and I did core work, 30 min worth, and felt fantastic!

Tonight we had dinner plans with some great friends, whom we haven't seen in a while at their house - grilled out, relaxed, had some wine, great steaks, & trimmings. And, the best part was just catching up, spending time together, and watching the kids play. What a great time!!!!

Have a wonderful Memorial Day tomorrow, and please all - remember our military heroes who've fought for our country, past and present!

I knew you had it in you for the run. Awesome job, and don't be afraid to push it again occasionally.

Man, what an awesome weekend! Yay, family!

Great job with the runs. I'm in total agreement with the quality over quantity approach to running. I think too many people get locked into this idea of running 6 or 7 times a week and making total mileage the goal. Most of those miles end up being junk miles at a middle-of-the-road pace and the runner never really recovers.

Keep it up! You're doing great!

Woohoo!! Great run!! Bet that felt fantastic! The family weekend sounds awesome!

What kind of inserts did they recommend for your shin splints? I suffer from them off and on. I am going to head back in to my shoe store soon to see if I need some different motion control shoes.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and for the kind words!
